Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Operate enterprise architecture software tools
   • Select and use enterprise architecture software tools in accordance with organisational procedures
   • Use enterprise information technology support system, as required
2. Use enterprise architecture operational tools
   • Prepare descriptions for high-level operational concepts and operational node connectivity
   • Prepare operational information exchange matrices
   • Prepare and seek agreement about command relationship chart
   • Model business activities, relationships between activities, inputs and outputs
   • Prepare business activity sequences and timings in accordance with organisational business rules, business activity reforms and critical sequences
   • Prepare a logical data model of business activity for stakeholder submission
3. Use enterprise architecture systems tools
   • Prepare systems descriptions and systems technology forecast, and obtain agreement from stakeholders
   • Develop systems matrices to meet project requirements and obtain agreement from stakeholders, as required
   • Model systems rules for the business architecture
   • Implement the logical data model of the business activity and undertake demonstrations to capture systems requirements, as required
4. Use enterprise architecture technical tools
   • Create a technical systems profile, and gauge support levels required for the development of the intended system in consultation with stakeholders
   • Develop an information technology strategy for intended systems development
   • Derive enterprise information technology performance requirements to allow standards, configurations and products relevant to the intended systems development
   • Create a technology standards report in accordance with operational procedures

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least three occasions and include: applying organisational policies and procedures applying systems analysis creating and documenting the required enterprise architecture using the agreed set of enterprise architecture tools undertaking technical writing using effective communication with diverse stakeholders, including negotiation using enterprise architecture tools.

Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and include knowledge of: critical points and criteria for compliance information technology strategy including the likely impact on the development of the intended system legislation, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines relating to enterprise architecture, and the public sector work environment relevant stakeholders scope and structure of organisation’s enterprise architecture framework relevant systems descriptions and matrices.
